Which Airport Should We Fly Into, and How Far Is It?
Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport (MBJ) is just 1.5hrs away. Kingston's Norman Manley (KIN) is an option, however we don't recommend it if you plan to come straight to Negril.
How Do We Arrange Transportation From the Airport?
We recommend a private transfer $160 USD round-trip ($80 USD one-way), for two (2) guests and $20 each way for each additional guest from Montego Bay, Sangster International Airport (MBJ). Please let us know via email or website contact form at least 48 hours in advance.
Where Exactly is Beach House Condos Negril Located?
We are located at the South end of the Seven Mile Beach (also known as Coral Beach).
What Documents Do I Need to Enter The Country?
A valid national passport is required to enter Jamaica. Guests must also have a return ticket out of Jamaica. US, Canadian, and UK nationals do not require a VISA to visit Jamaica. For a complete list of visa requirements, click here.
Our Unit Has a Full Kitchen; Are There Grocery Stores Nearby?
Yes, one at the town circle (10 minute walk), and also one in the Sunshine Plaza (about 1/2 mile).
Are There Staff at Beach House Condos Negril?
An on-site manager, office personnel, gardeners, security, and housekeeping staff are employed by Beach House Condos Negril. There is also an on-site restaurant - owned and managed independently - offering service from 7AM to 9PM (or later, as guests require).
Should We Tip; and If So, How Much is Appropriate?
You may choose to tip a staff member directly or leave it with the property manager. Tipping is optional at bars and restaurants.
What Should We Pack?
Pack light and loose - Negril IS the Capital of Casual! Sundresses, shorts, tees, and sandals for the ladies; T-shirts, shorts, slacks, and sandals or flip-flops for the guys. During the winter months, a scarf or long sleeve shirt may be handy on cool nights.
Is the Seven Mile Beach Clothing Optional?
Total nudity is restricted to the Hedonism and Firefly resorts only.
What Voltage Does Jamaica Use; and Do We Need a Converter?
Jamaica uses 100 volt / 50 cycle; 110 - 120V small appliances should work without an adapter.
Should We Bring Our Own Snorkel or Dive Gear?
We do not provide snorkel equipment, so you may want to bring your own. There are a number of dive shops who rent gear and offer tours, including Sun Divers and Dream Team Divers.
What is the Exchange Rate; and Where Can We Change Currency?
The Jamaican Dollar (JMD) fluctuates against the USD and other international currencies; check xe.com before traveling. You may trade currency at the airport, local banks or withdraw from ATMs (there is one within walking distance at the Times Square Mall). You may also pay in USD.
Can We Use Credit Cards?
Yes, most major credit cards are accepted on the island. You will want cash, however, if you wish to tip or purchase from local vendors and food-stalls.
Is The Water Safe to Drink?
Tap water in Negril is treated. It is safe to drink, but bottled water is also available for purchase.
Is Marijuana legal?
Marijuana is illegal in Jamaica. While some use is allowed by locals for religious, medical, and scientific purposes, it is still prohibited in public places.
Is Negril Safe?
Negril - and especially the Seven Mile Beach - is a safe place to visit day and night. You can enjoy picnics, sunsets, bars and restaurants aplenty, but remember that being safe is a personal responsibility. Always take steps to keep yourself and your companions safe. In-room safes are provided for your valuables while you are out.
